Sculptural Chair
Chance Coalter
San Diego, Calif.
Although it looks like a sculpture, this chair is “first and foremost, a functional object,” Coalter says. It is made using a form of stack lamination known as bricklaying, and the laminations make it “incredibly strong; in contrast to furniture with traditional joinery, there is no weak point in the form.”
