Mid~century/modern lounge chair
I wanted to build a chair to relax in and thus started researching different design options. I started looking at the morris chair as it is a standard woodworking project. However, the morris chair is a heavy and imposing piece of furniture and is big in a space.
Next, I turned to Mid century design. It has more minimal construction. It makes its way into my chair, but I tried to remove angularity and the mass produced look of Mid century pieces. Finally I happened upon the lesser known Maloof lounge chair which was the final inspiration for my chair. The trickiest element was working with the curves to create appropriate sitting angles while maintaining engineering stability.
