Cherry & Walnut Night Stands
I wanted to build some heirloom quality bedroom furniture to replace our 35 year old inexpensive set. I liked Mike Pekovich’s design in the August/September 2015 magazine (“Stylish Details Enliven a Low Dresser”). I modified the basic dresser design and followed his method to create these night stands. I used cherry for the frames, legs and panels, and walnut for the drawer fronts. The drawer pulls are stained walnut made using a design from an article in FWW #201 (“4 Custom Pulls That Please the Eye”). The finish is several coats of wiping varnish.
I’m currently working on the matching dresser. It will be similar in dimension to Pekovich’s, except somewhat longer for more drawer space.
