A rather ambitious project for my first attempt at chair building. Several foam and poplar mock ups and a plethora of templates kept my sanity. The first mock up was made from 2″ construction foam which machines fairly well and provided a first look at proportion and scale, a tip from FWW contributor Roland Johnson. Thanks Rollie. The upholstered slip seats were surprisingly easy with tips from another FWW contributor, Jeff Miller. The inlay is dyed and shaded curly maple with wenge stems. The chairs are of cherry and ebony finished with Waterlox Original and wax.
