Capital Street Bridge Table

This table was inspired by the Capital Street Bridge passing over I-5 in Olympia, WA. The top is of Quilted Maple. The shelf and legs are Big Leaf Maple and the arches are 7/8″ x 1/8″ Brass.
The table is finished with a medium brown dye, sealed with a coat of shellac and topped with six coats of wipe-on polyurethane for clarity and durability. A final rub with 4/0 steel wool and wax makes the finish smooth and silky to the touch.
The table is 44″W x 16″D x 31″H.
I tried to keep the design simple, but elegant.

Brass arches are hand bent and secured with Brass screws to the top and legs.

The corner profile creates interesting dynamics by changing the top's edge appearance.
