Electric Boat
The boat is powered by a 10 RPM gear-motor used for conveyor belts. The boat is hinged at the rear, and when the motor is switched on, a shop-made birch plywood eccentric engages a roller underneath that moves the bow up and down as if speeding across a lake. The hardware for the plexiglass windshield was shop made, as were the stainless steel bow and stern trim pieces. Using our home sewing machine, we upholstered the interior with material from a local auto upholstery supply house. The boat was inspired by a 17′ 1948 Century Sea Maid that I had seen for sale.
