The Chris Cullers Coffee Table
This table was inspired by a 36″ redwood burl round salvaged from a abused mid 70’s table. The top was turned in one piece using the outboard section of a Powermatic 4224 lathe, it features inlayed walnut splines bridging a existing knot hole and floats 1″ off the base on 4 brass bushings. The base was constructed using walnut, it features a lap joint in the center and mortise and tenon joints attaching the legs to the cross-member. the legs were shaped using a bevel cut on the table saw finished with hand shaping to form the curved out side profile. The inside taper and curve on thetop of the leg were rough cut on the band saw then fine tuned using a router jig.
