Cherry curly maple cabinet
A slightly revised version of a piece I built a few years back, 36″ tall, 18″ deep, 30 1/2″ wide. Cherry and curly maple, mostly solid wood construction (plywood back and adjustable shelves). Bocote door pulls. Hand rubbed varnish finish. Here’s a test: How to attach a solid wood top to the legs, in a post and rail case, so that the top can still expand and contract? (Usually it’s attached to a solid carcass so that they move together)

I'm intrigued...what the joinery's mystery?
I'm glad someone took the bait :) I used floating tenons to attach the top to the legs. All four are glued into the top, but in the legs, only the two in the front legs are glued. In the rear two, I used dowels to peg them into the mortices. The mortices are slightly oversized, and the dowel hole in the tenon is also slightly oversized, to allow movement. Hope that makes sense. It was all rather fussy, and I only did it to satisfy a client.
