Walnut slant front desk
Walnut slant front desk redux. It has become a family tradition that if you get a graduate degree, Dad will build you a desk. The desk is made out of air dried walnut, dried to 6%. The secondary woods are poplar. The desk has Philadelphia ball and claw feet, and a serpentine gallery. It is finished with danish oil. The design of the desk was inspired by a photo in Norman Vandal’s book: Queen Anne Furniture History, design and construction. Being a full time farmer, I could only work on the desk part time. Sad to say it took me longer to build her desk than it took her to get the degree.
