Cantilever Coffee Table
The table top is from an urban reclaimed elm log, surfaced using a router sled set up. The vertical base has wedged through-tenons. A heavy, stout piece of Brazilian jatoba provides mass and structural integrity to the base. Vertical and horizontal elements of the base lock in place with a saddle joint Three walnut bow tie inlays help stabilize checks in the elm plank. The table is finished in a light satin coat of Mohawk conversion varnish for resiliency as a functional piece of furniture.
