The scenes depicted on this cabinet were inspired by a backwater along the Potomac River, where egrets, kingfishers, and blue heron congregate and raise their young. Bellonby created the designs from photographs, sketching by hand and then using AutoCad and SketchUp to help translate the drawings into the marquetry you see here.
