277- White and Red Oak Grandfather Clock
This grandfather clock, made from barn wood, has a handmade wood clock mechanism. “Throughout the clock, there is no wood filler or sanding to hide mistakes,” Ramm says. “I had to be extremely accurate.” The scrollsawn face was designed so that the gear mechanism—which took Ramm about 21⁄2 years to complete—is visible. The weights are made from a cholla cactus skeleton that a friend found while hiking in New Mexico.
