Houston credits his mentors, James Cooper and Chester Cornett, with inspiring all his chairs. “In 1974, James forced me to make a dinner chair with an axe. Shortly after that, Chester introduced us to the elegance of the eight-sided post (leg) and round (stretcher),” he said. The hickory bark seat on this rocker is ergonomically shaped to reduce sagging and to eliminate the hard front edge found on traditional woven seats.
