The origin of this bench started when a client came to me asking if I could repurpose the walnut from an antique dining table that had been damaged in shipping and build them a piece for their house.  After assessing how much walnut was available to use and much discussion, a bench idea was formed using cherry to fill out the rest of the materials needed.  One of the two 125 year old dropleaf hardware pieces survived the accident and it seemed like it needed to be worked in to the project. A dropleaf bench was born.  A granite rock sculpted into the right front foot continues the distinctive design.
