Walnut Modern Stool
Although this Danish modern stool looks simple, there’s a lot of small-scale joinery. There are many small mortise-and-tenon joints, both square and angled. At the time he made this stool, Parkinson had done about eight Danish cord weaves on various pieces of furniture. “But this was the first time I had used the split rail, or double rail weaving technique,” he says. “This technique does not involve using Danish cord nails. It is a long process, as the Danish cord has to be completely pulled through warp strands at each end.”
