Contemporary plant stand (or stand for a water crock, or…?)
My first commission. The design was the result of collaboration with the client, which I found to be a wonderful source of inspiration. The use of Sketchup was also key, since I do not have any type of drafting setup or training in drafting or design. I just played with curves until it looked right 🙂
Made entirely with hand tools, because that is what I have. The stretchers are joined to the legs with drawbored mortise-and-tenon joints. The upper joints are also through-tenons, wedged and pared slightly proud. The stretchers are joined together with third-lap joints.
