A Mechanical Self-Portrait

A series of toothed and pegged gears and ratcheted and offset cams animate the chairmaker’s movements. Action is four taps atop the chisel with the mallet, a pause with the mallet raised while the chisel-hand slowly moves off to the side to inspect the work, and then a continuation of the work. Made as a Christmas gift for my parents who have long-encouraged my enthusiasm as a hobbyist woodworker.
