Southwest bookcase headboard
The king-size headboard is made of red oak. It sits on a simple plywood cabinet of the same width and depth that has matching oak doors to allow pillow and blanket storage.
The center piece is a custom piece of stained glass illuminated from behind with fluorescent lights (there is a switch for the lights in the upper open compartment. The two large lower panels slant backward to accommodate a pillow for TV viewing. Beneath the stained glass area there is a covered space for a multi-outlet so the phone and clocks can be plugged in. There are holes allowing wiring at the back of the compartments.
The vertical dividers join the top and bottom with sliding dovetails. The sides are attached to the top with through, wedged tenons. The three solid panels on the front open outward from the top.
