Bent Lamination Box
My daughter was cutting down some Holly bushes in her yard so I asked her to save some for me. After letting it sit at my house for awhile, I attempted to mill some small pieces from it. I managed to get a few 2″ x 2″ x 3′ pieces from it. While letting these perfectly straight pieces sit overnight in my shop, I came back and found them twisted like a corkscrew. So, I came up with the idea of using them in a bent lamination on the sides of a box. Using some simple box joints I constructed a box with walnut and pine sides, and a sliding lid from Birdseye Maple. Boiled linseed oil and shellac adds a simple finish.
