20 year promise completed!
Lots of new skills to learn here, like cutting curves in restoration glass, long splined 22.5 degree joints in both cases, accounting for seasonal changes, padding on shellac, dyes rather than stains, milling tiger maple (Shelix heads for both planer and jointer), intricate glass door with true divided lights, making cove/crown moldings on the table saw and router table, shaping ogee feet from glued up blocks of tiger…
Special thanks for neighbor Dick Havran as my woodworking sounding board on technique, Matt Wolfe of Doucette and Wolfe on finishing advice and Vijay Velji of Shellac Finishes for tips on applying their Royal Lac catalyzed finish. Most pieces had 10-15 very thin coats padded on, then after 2-3 weeks, I rubbed them out with 500 to 2000 grit pads and a rubbed-in paste wax finish. Very smooth.
I used Lonnie Bird’s divided light router bit set to make the 20 mortise and tenoned pieces for the door. I must have made at least 5 trial samples before I felt I knew what I was doing.

Nice work! Now your wife will stop saying she’s never going to get it like mine was saying about a piece it took me ten years to design and make.
Phenomenal, cant wait for your next piece.
