These sapele tea boxes were inspired by Michael Pekovich’s project in Fine Woodworking #269 and built using offcuts from a previous furniture project. The dovetails were entirely hand-cut and the sides of the removeable liner were carefully pinned to the ends and dividers using tiny 1/16-inch birch dowels that were sized using a homemade steel dowel plate. The custom lid knobs were shaped by hand using files and various abrasives. Three coats of de-waxed blonde shellac were applied using a cotton cloth.
