Contemporary coffee table
As a lifelong handyman I have always been fine woodworking adjacent but have never climbed that hill. But when my daughter moved into her first apartment without furniture I assured her I could furnish her with a coffee table. Using Black Walnut and Smoke-tree, I had cut on our property and put aside 7 years ago, I pieced together a table utilizing elements my other daughter had dug from a dumpster. I wasn’t satisfied and upended my design for something sleeker. It resulted in a display of grain and colors supported by a tripod that had its own display of colorful grain.
From start to finish it was a cascade of trial and error and earnest attempts to cover the mistakes. In the end I recognize the flaws but have accepted it turned out better than I expected.
