this settee is based off traditional Windsor chair proportions and expanded to hold 3 people at 6′ long.  A contemporary feel was created by slimming the proportions and simplifying the details including a slim crest rail and leg stretchers.  The construction is typical Windsor chair construction with maple legs and stretchers, a hand carved, white pine seat and white oak crest rail and spindles.  each spindle was hand spilt from a green, white oak log and shaped with draw knife and spokeshave.  The crest rail was similarly riven from a green, white oak log and steam bend.  The finish is deep sapphire milk paint from the Real Milk Paint Company and is topped with an oil/varnish mix for durability.
