Handmade Ebony Plane
While collecting antique planes over a number of years, Chris realized that many of the planes shown in books, (such as Salaman’s Dictionary of Woodworking Tools), were often unavailable or unaffordable. He concluded that the only way to add any of these tools to his collection was to make them himself. Now he’s a hobbyist plane maker. He based this coachmaker’s rabbet plane on one by Jeff Lock in FWW #66. Lock’s plane was a reproduction of those used by 18th- and 19th-century coachmakers.

Beautiful lines, bet it fits comfortably. What's the sole made of? It looks somewhat concave or is that just an impression?
