The Plane-Maker’s Bench
Due to its size and the design of the vises, Drew calls this his plane-maker’s bench. He treated the piece as he would furniture so the finished quality wouldn’t look out of place in his onebedroom apartment. He uses the storage below to season plane blanks and keep tools organized. The bench vise is all wood construction that is somewhere between a Scandinavian shoulder vise and an oversize wagon vise. The carver’s vise is loosely patterned on an antique La Forge Royale vise.
