Bishops Throne
I used larger beams of wood, started out by milling then re-sawing then milling again. This assured me that all the parts in this project would be stable considering that the large beams were all from the same tree. Carving was done with a router, 3 different pattern template jigs, two for the curved areas and one for the straight runs. The hand made small applied mouldings were glued with only pressure. No nails or screws in this construction, only glue. The architect requested that I stain the wood to a medium tone. Instead, I insisted to tan the wood by slowly turning it on a dolly, out in the sunlight for a brief 5 minutes, at intervals for several days. The finished product was a success.
