A Koa Secretary
Koa is considered a sacred wood in Hawaiian culture. While living there, Richard acquired a supply and built this secretary, which took over 800 hours to complete. After 50 years as a woodworker, Richard hopes his best work will serve as his legacy someday. Out of respect for the Koa tree and the heritage of Hawaii, he hopes to find a future home for this piece in a Hawaiian museum as his gift to the state he called home for several years.
