Chess Board With Drawer Unit
This chess board with a drawer unit was built using ribbon sapele and rock maple. The edges of the the removable chess board were beveled by using a bevel-up hand plane. The two-way drawer for chess and checker piece storage features hand-cut, half-blind dovetails and is lined with FLOCK IT! Cardinal Sued-Tex flocking. The brass low-profile hardware are used as pulls for the drawer and carrying handles for the entire unit. One coat of Rubio MONOCOAT Oil Plus 2C was applied using a maroon SCOTCH-BRITE pad.

You did a nice job, and its an attractive chess board. Just wondering how you prevent the drawer opening when you are carrying by the side handle
Rare earth magnets. I drilled two holes with a Forstner bit into the bottom of one drawer face and drilled precisely aligned holes underneath the case. I stacked 4 magnets and glued them into the holes. They hold well enough to keep the drawer from sliding out.
Ha, of course, silly me. I've used them myself but didn't even think of them in this case. Thank you.
