Round Dining Table

I worked on this design during the FW Furniture Design class, and I’m grateful to Mike and Ben for their guidance and feedback. The build process was pretty straightforward once I had the design locked in. For joinery, I used slip tenons – three parallel ones to join the two halves of each leg, and two parallel ones to join each leg to the center arbor. I included a photo in the gallery. Now I just need to design some chairs to match, haha! Maybe next summer.

The table fits four to five people comfortably. A sixth person makes things pretty tight.

All of the joinery is loose tenons.

The tabletop is reinforced with these cross pieces (cauls?). The holes for the threaded insert bolts are elongated to allow for wood movement.

I finished the entire piece with a few coats of General Finishes wipe-on Arm-R-Seal.
