“Pierced Hope” Sculpture
This sculpture, Pierced Hope, was made by Carolyn before her death from pancreatic cancer in 1996. She was 48. The piece appeared in a juried exhibition in 2023 at the Wharton Esherick Museum. The jurors felt that the work addressed storytelling in a way that is “innovative, exciting, and beautifully crafted.” Carolyn intended the piece to be a meditation on the necessity of thinking and working in new ways.
