Cabinet with brass escutcheon and hasp
John’s inspiration for this piece came from his previous experience as a conservationist working with 17th-century Spanish vargueno writing and storage cabinets. Additionally, and more recently, English designers Ernest Gimson and Alan Peters designed work in the same form, and their pieces also influenced John’s work. The brass escutcheon and hasp allowed John his first foray into metalwork.

Thanks for the post, but the caption was miswritten. I was a furniture conservator, a conservationist is a different profession.
