The Sydney Harbour cocktail cabinet
Michael wanted to create a major piece of Australian art furniture, and at the same time pay homage to the Art Deco design of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, built in the 1920s and ’30s. The Sydney Harbour Cocktail Cabinet is a showcase of the skills and techniques he taught himself over 50 years as an artist and craftsman, including cabinetmaking, carving, inlay, marquetry, leadlighting, and mosaic work. For a link to Michael’s video on making the cabinet, go to FineWoodworking.com/310.
