White oak blanket chest
Ben was inspired by the blanket chests of 17th century Dedham and Medfield, Mass., but he wanted to use digital fabrication and
CNC milling to produce the piece. This was his third semester project at North Bennet Street School. The panels were milled
using the Shaper Origin and then stippled by hand. The side panels are derived from the front panel design—with the lacing of
the hearts framed by a rectangle. The purpleheart hearts are to contrast the front panel hearts.
