A Limbert-style cabinet
As with all my furniture, this piece is made of scavenged wood from many sources and generally free. Although the piece is in a sort of Limbert style, it follows no plan. I never use plans other than the ad-hoc drawings I make as I construct the piece, with dimensions partly determined by the dimensions of the recovered wood available.
The black iron work is by a local small maker who creates all sorts of black iron stuff, including hardware like that shown here but also more sculptural pieces. The stained glass panels are also by a local maker who works alone in the hinterlands of West Wales, in the Cothi valley.
The Nautilus is largely made of old wrought iron scavenged from an ancient quarry, where old railway lines of the pre-steam era (horse-drawn) still lie about for blacksmiths to play with. The maker enjoys making things of a gothic nature.
