Walnut Whiskey Cabinet
This whiskey cabinet is made from walnut harvested in central Illinois. The overall dimensions are: 42”w x 24”dp x 74”h. The doors on the cabinet are 5-½” deep. The casing began with the back being a walnut frame with the lower half using ¼” plywood. The sides are dadoed to accommodate the shelves with the back frame attached to the sides with plate biscuits. The drawers are dovetailed with sycamore sides with a ¼” plywood bottom and slide on hard maple side runners. The raised panel doors feature shelving and rails to hold bottles. These are attached with piano hinges and supported with brass casters. The brass door handles feature burled escutcheon plates made from the same walnut. The upper part of the case features overhead LED lighting, back mirror, wine glass rack and glass shelf. This cabinet is finished with a coat of Tung Oil varnish, then two coats of Wipe-On Poly. The final coast was buffed out with 3-0 steel wool and a carnauba-beeswax blend.
