Curly Maple/Black Walnut Side Table

I was inspired by a small picture of a sideboard by Tom Hucker in a notice for a furniture making workshop held in Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine.

I wanted to create the illusion that the top was floating. In order to do that I suspended the curly maple top above the black walnut base by recessed steel pins.

I used Rubio Monocoat, Oil Plus 2C , then an N3 Nanofinish.

Dimensions: 11.25”d x 48”w x 36”h
